Setting up Linesbybeth

Martha and I set up Linesbybeth last May. We can honestly say that without the pandemic, we definitely wouldn't be doing what we currently are. I would still be studying sociology at the University of Nottingham, halfway through my final year, whilst Martha would (hopefully) have found herself a graduate job somewhere.

With the closing of borders last year however, I returned home to Dubai just before my birthday (March 23rd) and was soon spending lockdown with Martha and my parents. I've always been artsy and I spent most of the duration with a pen or paintbrush in my hand. The concept of line art has always intrigued me and I did actually attempt to set up a small t-shirt business a couple of years ago using t-shirts showcasing abstract line art faces! That never ended up going anywhere but t-shirts might be the next thing for us. My mum posted a few photos of my line art on a Dubai-based Facebook group and the response was incredible.

Fast forward to now and we have just reached the massive milestone of 400 commissions. We have an online shop selling prints all around the world and we work between Dubai and England. We can't imagine doing anything else right now and literally feel so lucky to be able to work from anywhere. I think a major part of us being able to set up our small business is the continued support and words of encouragement that we received and continue to receive today. The creative world is a daunting environment and I still struggle to comprehend the popularity of my artwork. Working alongside my sister Martha, we have big plans for Linesbybeth and can't wait to share the journey with all of you.

Thank you so much for reading this. I hope you're having a lovely day wherever you are x
